Pure Financial Advisors, LLC is a fee-only Registered Investment Advisor (RIA), providing comprehensive retirement planning services and tax-optimized investment management services.

We are seeking an experienced tax professional to work closely with the Tax Planning Manager and other members of the Planning department. This position may also interact with our Financial Advisors. This position’s primary focus will be to support the Tax Planning department by reviewing tax returns and preparing tax projections as part of our comprehensive financial planning process, which includes tax-optimized retirement planning, for our clients.

This is a part-time position (approximately 20 hours/week); however, there may be some flexibility in the schedule. This is an on-site (non-remote) position, working in our headquarters (San Diego, CA).

Responsibilities: 

  • Review and understand tax documents, related tax information, and other applicable financial planning data with an ability to identify anomalies or errors.
  • Analyze data & provide projections of future tax outcomes based on current financial information and tax-optimized planning recommendations for active and prospective clients.
  • Research tax information and pending legislation and translate it to understandable, actionable information for the Tax Planning/Financial Planning departments.
  • Ensure that all tax-related research and data gathering are complete and presentation materials are prepared in a timely fashion.
  • Draft written explanations of tax information directed to clients.
  • Participate in internal tax-related meetings/training, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, mathematics, economics, or accounting (or a related field) is preferred but not required.
  • 2+ years of experience in individual income tax services is required.
  • Comprehensive understanding of individual income tax returns is required.
  • Proficiency with Excel is required.
  • CRTP, EA, CFP, CPA, and/or other finance designation is helpful but not required.
  • Familiarity with retirement plan types and retirement and investment planning concepts is preferred.
  • Competency utilizing tax and financial planning software applications (e.g., Lacerte TaxPlanner, eMoney) is preferred.
