Designations & Licenses

Certified Financial Planner™
To use the CFP credential, the financial planner must successfully complete the CFP® Board's comprehensive examination which tests his or her knowledge on a number of key financial planning topics. The applicant must also have three to five years of related experience, voluntarily ascribe to the board's code of ethics and complete 30 hours of continuing education every two years pertaining to such relevant topics as estate and retirement planning, investment management, tax planning and insurance.
Accredited Investment Fiduciary
The AIF® designation is the first and only designation that demonstrates knowledge and competency in the area of fiduciary responsibility. Holders must successfully pass an exam, sign and adhere to a written code of ethics and complete four hours of continuing education credits each year. AIF® designees have a reputation in the industry as being the best positioned to implement a prudent process into their own investment practices, as well as being able to assist others in implementing proper policies and procedures.

Mike Bernier

Mike Bernier currently serves as a Senior Financial Planner for Pure Financial Advisors, Inc. where he helps clients achieve their goals through the use of prudent financial planning. Prior to joining Pure Financial Advisors, Inc., Mike was assisting clients at a San Diego based financial planning and investment advisory firm. He was also a valued co-host for many years on their local financial radio show.

The ability to make good financial choices, communicate complex ideas simply and to keep a watchful eye has placed Mike as an overseer of his client’s financial lives. His experience in personal financial decision making are brought to bear in developing well thought out approaches in the areas of tax, retirement planning, estate planning and risk management.

Mike is a professional whose financial acumen and ability to act decisively were honed by an exemplary educational background. Mike graduated Summa Cum Laude from San Diego State University’s college of Business Administration with a major in Financial Services.

Based on his achievement in the program, Mike was recognized by Beta Gamma Sigma, The International Honor Society for Business Excellence. Following his lifelong passion for knowledge, Mike chose to pursue and complete all the requirements to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM practitioner. Mike is an active member of the Aztec Athletic Foundation and enjoys spending time with his wife, Nicole and two sons, Grant and Wes.
